The Whole Body Cryosauna is a single-person device which envelopes a patient’s body while keeping the head and neck area exposed to room air above the device. The device can reach temperatures of about -240 degrees F. The Whole Body Cryosauna is equipped with numerous safety features and doors are never locked, which allows clients to stop treatment instantaneously at any time. The dress code during treatment is minimal, as maximum skin exposure to the cold air is desired:
- Robe (removed during treatment)
- Socks, Slippers
- Underwear (bottoms)
We supply you with a robe, socks, slippers and gloves when you arrive for your treatment. We have dressing rooms where you will change and keep your personal items. All jewelry must be removed before entering the Cryosauna.
Our Whole Body Cryotherapy
During Whole Body Cryotherapy (WBC) the body is exposed to ultra-low temperatures, triggering a systemic anti-inflammatory response. The client is placed in the Whole Body Cryosauna for a short duration of 1.5-3 minutes which lowers the client’s skin surface temperature significantly and stimulates receptors without damaging any tissue. Using liquid nitrogen (which turns to gas once it hits the air), the Cryosauna is cooled to temperatures between −110°C and −150°C (−166°F to −238°F). The patient is given socks, gloves and slippers to wear in the Cryosauna to prevent frostbite on smaller extremities. Clothing worn during the treatment is minimal: for women clothing is optional while for men genitals have to be covered with cotton underwear. The patient’s skin temperature drops between 10°C (50°F) and 5°C (41°F). While the patient’s external temperature drops significantly, the patient’s internal core temperature will remain the same.
Whole Body Cryotherapy was first utilized in Japan in 1978 to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Studies conducted over the last two decades have established WBC as a powerful treatment for inflammatory disorders, injuries, and muscle and joint pain. WBC can also be used to treat conditions such as fibromyalgia and rheumatism. The immediate release of endorphins can help with insomnia, fighting depressing and decreasing psychological stress. The accelerated production of collagen improves skin elasticity and texture, reversing skin aging and the appearance of cellulite. Additionally, studies have shown a 500-800 calorie after burn associated with the body’s process to warm itself up. WBC boosts the body’s metabolic rate, accelerating weight loss outcomes. Professional athletes have discovered WBC as a powerful treatment to decrease recovery time and increase athletic performance.
